Social media marketing allows your business and brand to be just that – SOCIAL! It is known as the leading forms of marketing because it gets your brand name out there to be recognized and trust by your target audience, 24/7. In fact, your efforts put towards social media marketing are actually working even when you are sleeping!
PRO TIP: Not every social media platform is going to work for every business. Find what works for YOUR brand, and master it.
HOW TO KEEP UP WITH SOCIAL MEDIA TRENDS
Let’s face it, social media trends change on the daily. In fact, sometimes they change every hour. It all really comes down to researching a combination of what is trending, what your competitors are doing and what influencers are the most interested in. Don’t be afraid to subscribe and follow your competition.
Research allows you to see what is working and what is NOT working. So then you can take that information back, flip it, and use it to benefit your company.
A great tool to look at to see what is trending is Google Trends. It is free tool on Google that allows you to see down to the demographic, topic and location on what is currently trending. For instance, for the restaurant industry “take-out” and “delivery” is currently trending, which makes sense with the COVID-19 restrictions still being in place.
With the trends, like we mentioned before, it’s important to take the information and manipulate the topics in a way that benefit your brand and get your content seen by the masses on social media.
HOW TO COME UP WITH CREATIVE IDEAS FOR CONTENT CREATION
With content creation, it really comes down to either your company’s persona, or the persona of the brand you are representing. Social media marketing is a way of personifying a brand, so you want the personality of the company to come through each and every post. This includes their style, tone and messaging.
Rather than posting the same type of content on every post, your content creation should be a combination of photos, videos, graphics and GIFs. The variation of post styles will allow you to keep your audience engagement, informed and excited.
PRO TIP: Each post you are putting out on social media should tell a story about your brand. Don’t fall victim to bombarding your audience with constant sales posts, it’s a huge turn-off! Instead, show them the story behind your company and why they should notice you.
WHAT SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM IS THE BEST FOR MY BUSINESS?
There is quite a variety of social media platforms to choose from. So, which ones should you choose? The truth is, it really comes down to what works for your brand. We wish there was a magic systematic way of knowing what platform to choose for each industry, but it all comes down to your specific audience and who you are trying to reach.
PRO TIP: Just because one platform is successful for another company, doesn’t mean it will be successful for yours.
However, we highly recommend that if you are just starting out with social media marketing that you 100% without a doubt get your brand on Facebook. Facebook is the HUB of social media marketing and allows you to connect with people of the masses.
